Jeb's Vocation and Random Thoughts and Random Old Pics...

Random thoughts and a change of vocation for Jeb----

A while back while I was carrying Jeb to church and Daddy was serving I was asking him what he would do to serve God when he was older…like…nursery, singing, greeting, etc…He quickly quipped, “Mom, I am going to be the preacher.” Of course, I had forgotten that. So, then the other day when riding by the church Jeb noticed the cars there and wondered why people were there. I listed off all the folks that work there throughout the week and what they do. His reply, “You mean the preacher works all week?” I said, of course…and rattled off all the other jobs the preacher has to do. He said, “Well, then I am going to go back to being a teacher since they have summers off to camp and be with their families.” His calling to preach God’s word quickly evaporated, huh? Teaching is a great idea…I do hope it happens.

Random Thoughts…

I have been thinking of a great verse to be THE VERSE for Thanksgiving this year...think I found it...
Psalm 116: 12-13 How can I repay the Lord for all His acts of kindness to me? I will celebrate my deliverance and call on the name of the Lord." I like that one.

I wish I did not have to pee all the time. I feel like it is such a pain to have to stop what I am doing all the time and pee! I can’t wait till heaven when I have a normal size bladder! Hee! Does that mean one is too busy when going to the bathroom is a real inconvenience???

Why is the only place I seem to be able to “shop” is Wal-Mart…how depressing…I am telling myself that it is just a season in life and I will be NORMAL again one day…but they do indeed have all you need in life…except Oreo cookie pie crusts...how annoying…

Why is it feast or famine with the rain?

Why do high school students sign up for college classes and then want to be treated like high school students (coddled and spoon-fed)…and then they are really not willing to do college-level work OR invest the time to succeed in college…??? They should just stay in high school if that is what they want!

Why do some people major on minor things…??? Seriously, time could be better spend doing other things…

Why are people actually proud when they say they are never home..they are just so busy…why is being busy something to be proud of?? Strange world…No doubt most ALL people are busy…that can be left unsaid…YET somehow all people (and me too) find time to watch mindless TV and put their kids into things that have no eternal significance YET have TONS of time devoted to dumb stuff..…huummmm…. I love being home some most days (even though J calls me the not-so stay-at-home mom)...I love HOME...it is where all the people and things are that you love most and I treasure the days I don't go anywhere, but can just bask in this place.

Do other Moms feel guilty about not doing fundraisers?? I hate those things and I don’t do them….charge me more if you want…but I don’t do fundraisers. AND I probably will never be in the PTA …just not may calling.

My husbands priorities are just not mine most days..our honey do lists may never be the same??

I have an attachment to bacon and a blanket on my bed b/c they remind me of my grandparents' home. Yes, I love bacon. Many folks find it awkward that a girl would love meat the way I do. Yes, I like good steak when I eat out, I love sausage and I adore bacon on anything.

Why is the wind always blowing when you are near water?

Pastor Greg say that the difference between the church and a country club is that a country club exists to serve it's members....in the church, the members exist to serve the church.

Remember Mark 10:45
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

I ordered the book "Adopted for Life: The Priority of Adoption for the Local Church." I can't wait to read it...If you don't buy books at Half.com you are crazy. The books there are never over about 6-10 bucks...even new ones! I also got
"For Parents Only", "Every Woman's Marriage," and "Every Man's Marriage." Thinking of our next small group...

I have always wondered about praying things in advance and thanking God for things in advance since you really don't know if that is God's will..but then again you believe God will answer prayers by FAITH. But I found this verse today about calling things not as they are but as though they were...Romans 4:17--the end of the verse....

November Fun Stuff

We got a few scoops of mulch recently, which keeps the boys busy for days. They love moving it, dumping it, and hauling it around in their trucks/Jeep. I have always said Santa needs to bring a load of mulch, dirt and sand and they would be thrilled.

We've had a great month hanging out with friends. I will really miss Jeb and having fun with him during the day next year. I have had about 3 cries over him going to school next year in the past 2 weeks! I heard Taylor Swift's song, "I Had the Best Day", and that really brought on a good cry. It is such a sweet song about mothering.

We went to the local children's museum and it was awesome. I was just as exhausted as the kids when we got home! My kiddos enjoyed the farm set-up, the construction area, and the two story climbing playground best I think. Pics are of Jeb on the climbing wall and Cay in the construction zone.

Caleb is now driving Jeb's Jeep, which is hilarious and cute.

Caleb didn't get to Trick or Treat since he had a fever, but he had fun showing off his costume earlier in the day for our neighbors. Jeb, the puppy, had a blast with his friends getting lots of Hershey's ...his favorite.

J built us 2 fire pits, one on the side of our house in the woods and one in the backyard, and we had fun rocking them as a family. Jeb enjoyed putting the mud on them and sticking them where he thought they would look good. We have had a great time having smores with cousins (see Bradley with Smore) and with Kristen and Jacob last night.

Uncle Jonas was thrilled that he provided Meggie (3.5 months old) her first real campfire action!

Supper by 7:35 AM! I am back! State Park Day

This morning I knew I was starting to win my war with pneumonia and was getting back to my normal self when I had breakfast cleaned up, Jeb dressed for school, and supper cooked by 7:35. This is not what I do everyday. But, when Cay is up at 6:11 it really leaves lots of time for me to get a jumpstart on my day. I do NOT enjoy cooking so I find that if I get up and just do it then, I can spend my afternoons outdoors playing in the sun with my kids. Usually, all I have to do is run-in and put it in the oven, etc...

We went to a state park yesterday and had the best afternoon for only 2 bucks. We played "carpet golf" with no putters...the kids loved rolling the ball we found there and Cay enjoyed running up and own the hills on the course. We visited all the playgrounds and rode bikes. BUT, the best part is that JEB RODE HIS BIKE WITH NO TRAINING WHEELS! He took off like he'd been doing it all his life. Jonas turned to go put the training wheels in the back of the truck and he was GONE...I yelled Jonas, "I gotta run with him, Get Cay, he's gone." He rode all over the place. We laughed and laughed about how it just must have been time b/c he was slamming on the brakes, turning curves, starting and stopping like a pro. Now, if potty-training Cay will be that easy.

Also, it is sad that doing breathing treatments independently is one of your 18-month old's skills. I am trying to have a sense of humor about all this sickness...but I DESPISE IT.

Lessons Learned from My Cat

Lessons Learned from My Cat:

Do let others help you. My cat, Josie, waits until I put her food in her bowl and then she will sit there and wait until I pick her up to put her on top of this chest where I feed her. I know she is starving from all her purring and persisting (see next point) but she still sits there and waits for help. I would not have a hernia right now if I would get more help.

Do be persistent. My cat has an amazing trick. She will sit outside on the porch and run from window to window stalking me to come out and feed her (she moves from bay window to bay window). Then, when that doesn’t work she pulls out all the stops. She will get on top of a rocker and perch there precariously meowing as loud as she can (and it is loud for me to hear her inside with 2 kids and something always running) while the rocker sways back and forth. She is literally balancing on like a ½ inch of wood that is moving. It is amazing.

Do be persistent in relationships. God is with us no matter what we do. He never stops pursuing us even when we are unloving and unkind at times. Relationships with people are so complex. Sometimes they don't speak or are unkind or uncaring because of their own issues--not yours. I recently had the opportunity to do something kind for someone that is not always so kind to me. It was difficult, but I am glad I did it b/c that is what Christ's love is like--unconditional. Josie is so persistent. No matter how many times the boys chase her with bats and shovels or how many times I tell her I don't want her in my lap today or on my shoulders--she does not give up on a relationship with us. She just keeps trying and I usually do cave in and hold her.

Do relax. I got a swing for Mother’s Day and I have really enjoyed watching her relax in it! I even put a cushion in it and SHE has ruined it …I wish I would have.

Do just learn to enjoy the boys playing and not always be entertaining them. Josie comes to the window of the playroom and watches the boys play. I have taken quite a few pics of her there enjoying them.

Do stand up for yourself without hurting anybody. When Josie has enough of the boys chasing her (and Sarah too) she will bite (with little to no pressure) and scratch if need be. She has never really hurt them, but we all need to let some folks know when we have had enough…without doing permanent damage, of course.

Lay in the Sun often—I am a big proponent of Sun Therapy—esp. in the winter! A little vitamin D goes a long way! Just be sure and wear sunscreen—you don’t want a skin cancer scare like I had!

Drink Water Any Chance You Get—Our cat is a farm cat. For a while, we tried leaving water out for her and then it was just spilled all the time…so now she is an opportunistic drinker. She gets water at the horses tub, the dog’s bucket, the creek, a puddle in the concrete, and the sand/water play table, or a the playground swings after a rain. I should drink water every chance I get too…days that I don’t stop for a drink I feel so tired and miserable and headachy.
