Congratulations on getting ready to become the mother of a little boy! I thought my friends and I could post some “good stuff” here for you to be better prepared!
1. Never underestimate the power of rocks, sticks, dirt, and mulch to entertain a boy for hours.
2. Invest in massive amounts of Oxi-Clean. It is hard to keep white socks.
3. Prepare to be peed on all the time and often. At first, the Pamper Swaddlers are the what you need (baby boys pee all out of most diapers but they seem to work the best—cinch um on), but after that the Parent’s Choice Diapers (the yellow packs) are great at Wal-Mart.
4. Know that despite all you misgivings about exposing them to toys guns….they will make them if you don’t have one around. James Dobson said it and I didn’t believe it at first.
5. One of the best toys for many boys is a puppy.
6. If you don’t want a puppy, a dump truck, sandbox/shovels, some water, or something he can drive will entertain him outdoors for an entire day. Our Powerwheels Jeep is truly one of our best investments.
7. Boys love to run: from you, with you, racing you, being chased, chasing others, around the house, wherever they go…that is just what the testosterone coursing through their veins makes them do.
8. Something great about boys: You really only need a couple shoes-some brown church shoes, tennis shoes, and some crocs.
9. Boys can destroy almost anything.
10. The best sippy cups are Playtex ones. Don’t waste your money on anything else. They lasts and are truly spill proof.
11. You will never get over the first time that little guy looks at you and in some strange way of his own says, "Mommy, you look BOOtiful in that yellya shirt."
12. It is perfectly normal that every time you change his diaper he wants to grab that little wienie...or whatever you call it. Jeb called his a wenis so we went with that!
13. Boys are nothing but FUN, are very funny, and are quite simple little creatures! They are less drama but quite messy. Save up all your energy, get some caffeine and you'll be ready!

Lori...we are so excited for you! Here are a few bits of knowledge that I've gained from my almost 4 year old.
~You will be the first female that this little boy will love and the bond between a mother and son is awesome. Treasure the little things.
~Just because one boy likes cars, blocks, trucks, etc doesn't mean your boy will love them (just like some girls just don't like to play with dolls they are all individuals).
~There is a new cover that I've heard is great for itty bitty diaper changes (pee pee teepee - http://www.bippityboppitybaby.com/peepeeteepee.htm).
~You can dress your boy in pink, just wait until they are old enough to tell that it is a BOY!
~Be prepared to have your stomach drop often...running, climbing, jumping etc will happen and they continue to try to test the limited (you may be chance get a cautious little guy and that is normal too).
~Ultimately treasure each stage that he will go through because they change and grow so very quickly!
Here is another boy example... http://thepioneerwoman.com/2009/04/gender_stereotypes.html
Love the site you left Jill! That is funny. Yes, Lori, brush up on your wrestling moves. You will need them.
Abby...Thank you so much for posting this!!! I laughed and also teared up. This is only the beginning of the countless advice I will depend on from such godly ladies! You are my mentors! Looking forward to "Bringing up Our Boys" together!!! God Bless!
