Celebrating our Marriage...

The marriage conference this weekend was great...these are the things I want to remember...
And one thing I don't want to remember...
1--I don't want to remember that I had a temperature the whole time and felt miserable....

back to things I do want to remember...
1. We had a ton of laughs, silly songs, funny people, hilarious games...
2. Choose your love and love your choice.
3. There are really only 3 big decisions to make in life: Your Master, Your Mission and Your Mate.
4. We need to come up with a mission statement for our family/marriage.
5. There is only one book of the Bible on a single subject: The Song of Solomon is all about SEX. ...God must think it is really important since it is the only subject he gave an entire book to talk about!
6. We need to dig for the purpose of our marriage: the most impt. words in our culture today are YES and NO...once you know your mission you can say Yes to what you do feel God calling you to invest in and NO to things that don't line up with your mission...There is a big difference between being Efficient (which Jonas and I are both too efficient...that is why romantic gestures ]are difficult for us...too busy being efficient !!) and Effective.
7. Say, "I'm proud of you." This is something I learned from Love and Respect and also For Women Only--but it is always good to hear it again.
8. Husbands should lead not by domineering, but by cherishing. Jonas is a great loving, affectionate, kind, and wise leader. He is so selfless that I never much struggle with submission.
9. Separate individuals with strengths and weaknesses operating as ONE.
10. I agree with the quote, "You become the people you hang out with and the books you read." Choose wisely.
Books I ordered to read soon: Sacred Parenting and Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas. For J --Modern Day Knight--raising boys today...
11. Jonas and I were the lucky couple to win the $50 gift card to Copper River--what a treat!
12. We made 2 new couple friends. What a privilege to go to church with such fabulous people.
